ANNA SCIONTI (pronounced Shon-tee) is a Melbourne Based, Australian singer-songwriter, guitarist and bottleneck slide player who mixes it up on cigar box guitar, resonator, lap steel and six-string guitar.

The music Scionti makes is her own style steeped in blues, roots and rock. While absorbing influences from her favourite artists, Scionti walks her own creative path. Driving guitars and honey-soaked, gravel-infused vocals draw you deep in to her world of emotionally charged, electrified rhythmic tunes.

Having lost both her parents as a teenager, Scionti turned to music as an outlet. Her original songs tell stories of love, loss, and longing and are uninhibited, raw and unapologetic in their honesty. They are songs from the heart.

Having won the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society’s (MBAS) Blues Performer of the Year (Solo/Duo Category) in 2023,  Scionti represented the  MBAS at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis TN, USA in January 2024. Scionti followed this up by releasing two new singles, ‘Faker’ and ‘Sing With The Birds’, and a third studio album ‘Sparrow And The Fox’ released on 12 July 2024.

SPARROW AND THE FOX is a striped back acoustic album full of personal songs crafted after having moved back to her childhood hometown in East Gippsland. The album remains firmly imbedded deep in the sound of blues and roots but expands her repertoire in to a unique blend of folk. Drawing from personal experiences, creating music that is both emotive and powerful. Soaring lap steel guitar and Scionti’s trademark bottleneck slide bringing a personal and ambient feel to the new 10 track album.

Scionti’s other releases include: 2020 Album 'Junkbox Racket', 2019 album ‘Orphan Diary’ and her 2017 self-titled EP. ‘Orphan Diary’ debuted at No.4 on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Charts, spent seven months in the top 20, and was a nominee for ‘Best Blues Album’ at the 2019 Music Victoria Awards.

Having shared the stage with some of Australia’s finest blues players as part of the touring 'Blues Guitar Roadshow' - Phil Manning, Fiona Boyes, Geoff Achison, Lloyd Spiegel, Jimi Hocking, Brett Garsed, The McnaMarr Project. PRESS

"A fresh album release from Australian singer-songwriter Anna Scionti packs in so much character and personality that this is an album you have to listen to all the way through as the songs have such a beautifully acoustic soundscape with a very one-on-one approach and insanely detailed lyrics to the point where you can paint pictures in your head vividly while you're listening to certain songs."

RAG MAG - Recording Artist Guild Magazine

"Hot off the heels of her scorching new solo album, Orphan Diary, the Melbourne blues legend is enjoying an enormous 2019. Bounding between cigar box guitars, resonators, lap steels and stomps, Scionti (pronounced Shon-tee, FYI) is a defiantly unique and destructively captivating player. Her energy is patently poignant, every blunt, soul-thumping strum as powerful as can be. To that end, Scionti is a phenomenal vocalist with lyrics that hit hard and heavy – one worth making a special mark on your schedule for”.

Matt Doria - Australian Guitar Magazine

“An exceptional musician equally at home on electric and acoustic guitar, resonator and lap steel, Anna's refreshingly honest lyrics that tell of the tragic death of her parents during her teens, of finding solace in her music, tales of loss, love and fulfilment are enhanced by her emotionally charged guitar. My most played album of this month”.

Billy Pinnell - Billy Pinnell: The Music Show

“Festival and blues cafe favourite Anna Scionti has produced a hard hitting personal album. Burning valves, cigar box and resonator, Scionti does not hold back. Rising star on the blues scene down under”.

Salty Dog - Salty Dog Blues N Roots

“If you get the chance sit down and really listen to this album, it’s an astonishing piece of work simply because so many of the songs are very personal to Anna. She really tells a lot of her personal story. Very brave to put that out in song, but very, very powerful to listen to. I can’t recommend the album enough. Anna Scionti, Orphan Diary”.
